Buying
You will need to register for a buyer number prior to bidding at an auction, which can be done in person or via this website by clicking here or on the 'register' link in the header. You will need to provide us with your full name, address and contact details. Your buyer registration is permanent and can be used at any subsequent auction. There is no fee for this service.
First Time Buyers
Once you have registered you can bid on any lot in the sale. If you have never bid at auction before then it is advisable to watch the auctioneer for a few lots so that you understand how the bidding progresses. Do not be afraid to be bold with your bid and join the bidding early on so that the auctioneer can register your interest. If you have any questions or concerns, our staff will be happy to help you.
Absentee bids
If you wish to bid in the sale but can not attend the auction, then the auctioneer can bid on your behalf via an absentee bid. Bids must be received in plenty of time before the commencement of the sale and it is advisable to double check the lot numbers and the descriptions so that you leave the bids on the correct items.
Autobids
You can also leave Autobids. If you choose this option our system will automatically bid on your behalf up to the amount you specify during the sale. Your bids will appear as live internet bids to the Auctioneer, and the Auctioneer will not be aware of your maximum bid at any time. There is an additional 3% surcharge for this service.
Telephone bids
If you can not attend the auction and would prefer to book a telephone bid, we are happy to oblige. Telephone bids must be received by 6pm the day before the sale.
Live online bidding
You can bid through this website for both live and timed auctions. There is an additional 3% charge for this service. For Live auctions you can also bid through Easyliveauction.com with the option of a 3% of fixed £3 fee; or the-saleroom.com with a 4.95% fee. Timed auctions are also accessible through EasyliveAuction.com.
Condition of lots
Prospective buyers should ensure that they have inspected any items they intend to buy and satisfy themselves to the condition. Lots are sold 'as seen' and their condition can not be guaranteed.
Buyers Premium
The buyer's premium payable on the hammer price for whisky auctions is 20% and on all other auctions is is 24%, on which VAT is applicable.
Payment and Collection of purchases
Lots are available for collection throughout the sale and all goods should be paid for and collected within one week of the sale unless prior arrangements have been agreed. After this time you will be liable for a charge of £5 per lot per day plus any additional removal, storage or other associated charges incurred by the auctioneer in respect of the lot.
